Privacy & Cookies
This site collects certain data to enable functions such as comment form, signup forms and statistics. Read more info below.
Cookies are small text files that can be used by websites to make a user’s experience more efficient.
The law states that we can store cookies on your device if they are strictly necessary for the operation of this site. For all other types of cookies we need your permission.
If you click “reject” on the cookie notification bar when entering the site, the Statcounter cookies & script won’t load.

On this site I use the default WordPress comment form to enable discussion and connect with people who visit the site. The form collects name, e-mail address, site url (if you leave one), content you write, Gravatar photo (if you uploaded one to gravatar.com) and ip address. Only your name, url, comment and picture (if you’ve chosen to use Gravatar) will be visible on the site. Your name, e-mail, comment and ip address will be saved in the database which is stored on a server in Dublin, Ireland, through a reliable web hosting company.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it.
After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible on the site next to your comment.
If you wish to receive e-mails when there is a reply to a comment you have left on the site, the e-mail address you have provided in the comment form will be used for this. To opt in, you can click the check box “subscribe to comments” near the comment form
Visitor comments will be checked through an automated spam detection service to protect the site against spam.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
If you leave a comment on our site you can opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you do not consent to having your information processed by WordPress that hosts this website, please don’t use the comment form. If you would change your mind and wish to be deleted from the database, let me know by sending an e-mail.
This site uses Google Analytics for statistics about visitors, and will collect anonymised information about you.
Google Analytics is an online service which helps me to understand the visitors; for example, how visitors find the website, how long they spend on the site, which web pages they are most interested in etc. This allows me to offer a better online experience to the visitors.
